About Us
History
Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the first and only international honor society for the computing sciences. We are also the only honor society to have received formal endorsements from the world's largest professional computing societies, the Association of Computing Machinery and the IEEE Computer Society. Since its founding in 1967 at Texas A&M University, our organization has grown to hold establishments in over 120 institutions of higher learning throughout the world, including the University of Southern California.
Our purpose is to promote the computing sciences and to encourage its contribution to the enhancement of knowledge. This is accomplished through the recognition and support of exemplary scholarship and accomplishment amongst the members of our field. Each semester we invite a handful of select students and faculty to join our ranks. In return, we ask that these individuals use their talents to help others within the community.
Executive Board
At the conclusion of every Fall semester our chapter elects a board of executive officers. These volunteers are responsible for all aspects of daily administration related to our chapter, including electing new members and planning for events.
The current officers for the 2007 year are:

Constitution
Our chapter is governed by the rules and by-laws set forth in the USC Zeta Chapter Constitution (PDF). While by-laws may be added by either the executive board or the regular membership, amendments to the constitution may only be made by a three-fourths vote of the regular membership.
In addition, all chapters are expected to abide by the provisions set forth in the International UPE Constitution and the International UPE By-Laws. In the event of a conflict between chapter and international policy, the international version always takes precedence so long as it does not violate the policies of the University of Southern California.
